Mission

Our mission is to inspire and empower the youth to become visionary leaders, actively engaged in shaping the future of their communities. Through education, mentorship, and hands-on experiences, we strive to cultivate a generation of informed, compassionate, and resilient individuals who contribute positively to local governance, foster inclusive communities, and champion the values of integrity, innovation, and social responsibility. Our commitment is to provide a transformative journey that equips young leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to address challenges, drive positive change, and build a sustainable and vibrant future for all.

Goals of the Program

  • Foster leadership skills among youth participants.
  • Promote civic engagement and active involvement in local government.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of local government structures and processes.
  • Cultivate teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills in addressing community challenges.
  • Instill values of integrity, empathy, and social responsibility.
  • Provide mentorship opportunities with local government professionals.
  • Facilitate networking opportunities with community leaders and stakeholders.
  • Inspire a sense of ownership and commitment to building sustainable and inclusive communities.

Qualifications

  • Have a minimum of a 2.0 (or C) grade point average
  • Home-schooled student (rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors) with a 27545 home zip code
  • High School students (rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors) with a 27545 home zip code (Knightdale High School students do not have to live in a 27545 zip code to qualify for the program.)
  • Private school student (rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors) with a 27545 home zip code
  • Charter school student (rising sophomores, juniors, or seniors) with a 27545 home zip code
  • Applicants must be in good academic standing and have no attendance or disciplinary problems at their school.
