Community Resources Unit

The Community Resources Unit (CRU) is comprised of sworn officers dedicated to strengthening relationships between the department and the community it serves. Officers assigned to this unit are embedded in local schools, coordinate and support community outreach initiatives, and provide a wide range of community-oriented services designed to enhance public trust and quality of life.

Core functions of the Community Resources Unit include the planning and coordination of community events, public engagement activities, and educational programs focused on crime prevention, safety awareness, and responsible citizenship. CRU officers routinely interact with residents, business owners, students, and community organizations to identify concerns, provide resources, and promote collaborative problem-solving.

The unit also provides victim and witness assistance, crisis intervention support, and referrals to appropriate community and social service partners. Through these efforts, CRU officers help ensure individuals affected by crime or crisis receive timely information, support, and access to available resources.

The department remains committed to actively participating in and seeking opportunities that strengthen community relationships, enhance transparency, and foster meaningful dialogue with residents. Through the work of the Community Resources Unit, the department promotes open communication, trust, and shared responsibility for community safety.
