The Knightdale Police Department recently launched its new Blue Envelope Program. The free program helps community members with intellectual and developmental disabilities during interactions with officers, such as traffic stops. KPD officers recently completed training along with launching the envelope program.
The blue envelope holds important documents like a resident's driver's license, vehicle registration, and emergency contact information in one easy-to-find place. It also includes helpful communication tips for officers and community members. The program is one of the latest efforts across the state to improve communication with drivers who are neurodivergent.
Knightdale residents can pick up a free blue envelope today in the lobby of the Knightdale Police Station, located at 945 Steeple Square Ct.
