Biennial Temporary Public Art Exhibit

One of the goals identified in the Knightdale Public Art Plan is to support economic development and tourism by fostering partnerships between artists and local businesses while leveraging a signature community public art initiative.  To advance this goal, the Plan establishes a biennial temporary public art exhibition event.  This biennial exhibition will feature the work of multiple artists and be displayed in outdoor public spaces or across multiple sites throughout Knightdale, creating opportunities to attract visitors, increase community engagement, and support local businesses.

Each biennial exhibition will showcase a diverse collection of approximately 20 sculptures and interactive installations. Artwork will be displayed in outdoor public spaces throughout Knightdale, creating an engaging and accessible experience for residents and visitors.

The exhibition will include a juried competition awarding the first-place artist with the opportunity for their sculpture to be purchased by the Town for inclusion in Knightdale’s permanent public art collection.

The Biennial Temporary Public Art Exhibit will be planned and implemented by the Public Art Advisory Board.  More information regarding exhibit dates and locations will be posted here once the information is available.

Qualified artists will be invited to submit applications for consideration.  The Public Art Advisory Board will review all submissions and select artworks based on established criteria, including artistic quality, public engagement, site compatibility, and alignment with the goals of the Knightdale Public Art Plan.  More information, including application and art requirements will be posted here when available.
