Community Planning Academy

If you have an interest in urban and community planning or have ever wondered about Knightdale's development processes and practices, we invite you to join us in our annual Community Planning Academy!

The Knightdale Community Planning Academy is a dynamic and interactive program aimed at helping residents understand how planning and development affects their lives and to encourage participation and engagement in the community, local government, and future planning efforts.

  • Town government overview & Knightdale basics
  • Comprehensive Planning: the future vision for Knightdale
  • Transportation Planning: regional partners, transit, infrastructure improvements
  • Current Planning: the development process and upcoming projects

Schedule

The 2026 planning academy is scheduled for the following dates. All sessions are from 6:15-8:30 pm at Knightdale Town Hall.

  • Tuesday, September 29
  • Tuesday, October 6
  • Tuesday, October 13 

Before each session an informal meal will be provided at 5:45 pm where participants can enjoy friendly conversations and build relationships with neighbors and other community members. 

Eligibility 

Enrollment is limited to 20 participants who live within Knightdale's corporate limits or the extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ), are at least 18 years of age, and can attend all three sessions. Participants will be selected on a first come, first-served basis, but with priority given to first time attendees.
