Town Manager Bill Summers announced the promotion of Mr. JP Lefever as the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Programs Director, on February 16, 2024.
Originally hired as an Athletic Supervisor in October of 2014, Mr. Lefever was promoted to the Assistant Parks & Recreation Director position in November of 2021. JP earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Colorado in 2011. During his time with Knightdale, he earned his master’s degree in Natural Resources, Parks, Recreation, Tourism, and Sports Management from North Carolina State University. Mr. Lefever received his Certified Park and Recreation Professional accreditation through the National Recreation and Park Association and his Certified Youth Sports Administrator credential through the National Alliance for Youth Sports. When he is not spending quality time with his wife and son, JP is the freshman coach for the Cardinal Gibbons Football program. Mr. Lefever stated, “I am excited for this opportunity, and I look forward to continuing my career serving the citizens of Knightdale.”
Mayor Jessica Day offered her congratulations and said that “Promoting a hard-working employee like JP shows the commitment by the Town of Knightdale to succession planning and an overall investment in staff. These are a few of the things that make Knightdale such a wonderful place to live, work, shop and play.”
Mr. Lefever will begin in his new role on February 17, 2024.
