KNIGHTDALE FIRE DEPARTMENT PROMOTES THREE NEW BATTALION CHIEFS

KNIGHTDALE, NC – The Town of Knightdale Fire Department created three Battalion Chief positions, as part of a departmental restructuring, in anticipation of the merger between the Knightdale and Eastern Wake Fire Departments. The merged Fire Department now operates three fire stations throughout the Alert Fire District, which includes the Town of Knightdale and parts of unincorporated eastern Wake County. The Battalion Chief positions provide a new level of around-the-clock operational and administrative support to the three fire stations.

Recently promoted to the Battalion Chief positions are Christopher Miller, William Boggs, and Brian Bunn. Christopher Miller has served the Town of Knightdale Fire Department since 2001, as a Volunteer Firefighter, Fire Fighter First Class, Lieutenant, Captain, and Interim Fire Chief. William Boggs began his fire service career in 1993 with the Knightdale Volunteer Fire Department and has served Knightdale citizens, and surrounding communities, for over 27 years. Brian Bunn has held ranks from Firefighter to Assistant Chief in his 26 years of fire service and worked with Eastern Wake Fire Rescue since 2010.

Fire Chief Loren Cone stated, “As the Knightdale Fire Department works through this period of rapid growth, I am grateful for the opportunity to add these three positions to our organization. Each of these individuals brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the department. These positions are critical to help us manage emergency operations within the jurisdiction and having dedicated Battalion Chiefs as Shift Commanders will inevitably lead to improved outcomes for our citizens and a safer working environment for staff.”
