Knightdale Commences Construction of State-of-the-Art Fire Station No. 1

The Town of Knightdale proudly initiated the construction of Fire Station No. 1 with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. This milestone signifies our unwavering commitment to enhancing public safety and emergency response in our community. The new Fire and EMS station will be located at 7747 Forestville Road in Knightdale.

The new fire station marks the second Public Safety facility we have embarked on constructing since 2022. The forthcoming facility is meticulously designed to equip our dedicated firefighters and paramedics with the tools they need to effectively serve the community.

Fire Station No. 1 will boast state-of-the-art infrastructure, incorporating advanced firefighting equipment and cutting-edge technology to enhance response capabilities. This modern facility will play a pivotal role in our ongoing pursuit of ensuring the safety and well-being of Knightdale residents.

By strategically locating the Fire and EMS station, we aim to achieve efficient coverage and reduced response times to emergencies within our jurisdiction. This crucial development, with a budget of $7.2 million, aligns with our vision to meet the evolving needs of our rapidly growing community. We anticipate the completion of this project in the Spring of 2024.

Mayor Jessica Day, Mayor Pro Tem Ben McDonald, Councilor Mark Swan, Councilor Stephen Morgan, along with Wake County Commissioner Chair Shinica Thomas and Wake County Commissioner Don Mial, were among the esteemed guests present at the groundbreaking ceremony. Their attendance, alongside other community members, exemplifies the collaborative partnership between the Town of Knightdale and Wake County. The new facility will continue to serve as the Knightdale Main EMS station, further strengthening this valuable alliance.

“As our community grows, it is imperative that our public safety resources align and grow with it,” said Knightdale Mayor Jessica Day. “Fire Station 1 will not only be a watchtower for the surrounding areas, but it will also be a catalyst for our collective peace of mind and freedom to continue pursuing progress for all members of our community.”

We look forward to the successful completion of Fire Station No. 1, an essential asset that will fortify our emergency response capabilities and ensure the safety of our community for years to come.
