James Satterwhite was a homebuilder in Wake County. He worked with his brother, Jesse Satterwhite, to develop the Green Pines subdivision in Knightdale and the Brentwood subdivision in Raleigh. James was a farmer in the Knightdale and Wendell area and attended Knightdale High School.
While in the Navy, James completed the Navy Landing Force Equipment Depot and received the American Area Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, Victory World War II Medal, and Good Conduct Medal.
