James Hart, Sr. was a longtime member of American Legion Post 529 as a past Commander, Vice-Commander, and Financial Officer. He was a past president of the board of directors of the Eastern Wake Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Hart also served on the town’s Veterans Memorial Advisory Board and was instrumental in the creation of the Knightdale Veterans Memorial Plaza. Mr. Hart worked for numerous years with his father in Hart School Equipment Company located in Norfolk, VA, and later as the sole owner of the business. He then opened his own company to support restaurants with restaurant equipment and was very successful for decades.
