Request for Public Records
The Town of Knightdale believes strongly in transparency and providing access to public documents for citizens, members of the media and other organizations.
Submitting a Public Records Request
Anyone can submit a public records request by emailing the Knightdale Public Information Officer using the contact information at the bottom of the page, or mail your public records request letter to:
- Town of Knightdale
- Public Information Officer
- 950 Steeple Square Ct.
- Knightdale NC, 27545
For more information, please see Knightdale's policy on public records request.
Anyone submitting a public records request will receive within five business days an acknowledgement that it was received.
If the request is unclear or does not sufficiently identify the requested information, the public records manager will contact the requester for clarification. If clarification is not received, the request might be denied.
The public information officer will then review the request to ensure the information requested is available and not restricted from public access.
After reviewing the request, the public information officer will begin identifying the requested documents and notify the requester of an estimated time frame to retrieve the information as well as any associated charges.
The Town of Knightdale makes every effort to provide records in the requested format and strives to respond as quickly as possible. Actual delivery times, however, vary depending on several factors that include:
- The size and volume of the request
- Whether the request spans multiple departments
- Whether the request requires additional preparation or review
Knightdale's Public Information Officer will notify the requester if a substantial amount of time might be needed to process the request.
The Town of Knightdale follows the Governor's Guidance for Public Records and Meeting Access as it's policy on Public Records.
