If you have an interest in urban and community planning or have ever wondered about Knightdale's development processes and practices, we invite you to join us in our annual Community Planning Academy!
The Knightdale Community Planning Academy is a dynamic and interactive program aimed at helping residents understand how planning and development affects their lives and to encourage participation and engagement in the community, local government, and future planning efforts.

- Comprehensive Planning: the future vision for Knightdale
- Transportation Planning: regional partners, transit, infrastructure improvements
- Current Planning: the development process and upcoming projects
Schedule
Traditionally, the planning academy is held one evening a week for three consecutive weeks. An informal meal is provided before each session.
The 2026 dates and schedule have not been published yet.
Eligibility
Enrollment is limited to 20 participants who live within Knightdale's corporate limits or the extra-territorial jurisdiction (ETJ), are at least 18 years of age, and can attend all three sessions. Participants will be selected on a first come, first-served basis, but with priority given to first time attendees.
