2020 Knightdale Appearance Award Recipients

Mayor James Roberson, the Knightdale Land Use Review Board Chair Latatious Morris, and members of the Land Use Review Board awarded two groups with Knightdale Appearance Awards at yesterday's Town Council Meeting. The Appearance Award Program is intended to recognize the efforts of individuals, organizations or businesses that strive to enhance the appearance of Knightdale.

The two nomination categories this year were: A recently renovated building (residential or commercial), and a citizen or local organization for their beautification efforts

Staff presented nominations at the December 9, 2019 Land Use Review Board meeting and members voted for recipients.

Burn Boot Camp - Knightdale, NC received the first award for its work on renovating the old Knightdale Seafood and BBQ building to what is now a beautiful and well-kept Gym.

The second award went to the John Rex Endowment for their funding of pedestrian improvements including a pedestrian signal at Mcknight Drive & Smithfield Road, RRFBs (Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon) across town, Hodge Rd Elementary Safe Routes to School crosswalk improvements, splash pad benches, and First Avenue improvements.

Thank you to Lauren Mazzella for representing Burn Boot Camp and its work to make Knightdale a more visually pleasing Town, and thank you to Kellan Moore and Gladys Hairston for representing the John Rex Endowment and its support of making Knightdale safer for pedestrians!
