Town Clerk

The Town Clerk is hired by the Town Manager per the statutory requirements of North Carolina General Statute 160A-171.

The role of the Town Clerk is to prepare and maintain complete and accurate records of the Town Council's meetings, to serve as the official custodian of all permanent records including minutes, contracts, resolutions, ordinances, and various other official records, and to coordinate the publication of the Knightdale Code of Ordinances 

Heather Smith has served as the Town Clerk since December 2018.  She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Municipal Clerks (NCAMC) and the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) and has received designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk.
