Financial Reporting and Accolades

Annual Audit

All units of government in North Carolina are required by General Statute 159-34 to receive and submit an annual audit report to the Local Government Commission. The Town of Knightdale's fiscal year begins on July 1st and ends on June 30th.

Comprehensive Annual Financial Report

In addition to the annual audit requirement of GS 159-34, the Town of Knightdale also prepares a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).  The CAFR is prepared in combination by the Finance Department and the Town's auditor.  Its purpose is to provide transparent and comprehensive access to the Town's policies and reporting.

Accolades 

The Town of Knightdale has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in  Financial Reporting for over 30 consecutive years. This achievement is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association.
