Construction on 1st Ave

Construction crews have completed the pouring and stamping of the crosswalk on 1st Avenue and we are happy to be moving forward!  This was a deep pour, and Public Works asked that the concrete be a higher strength than is usually used to ensure durability and decreased cure time.

The concrete must cure 7 days to get to 75% strength which is safe to drive on.  This means the barricade/detour must remain in place until Tuesday, February 13th to avoid breaking and us having to re-do the project.  The barricade is set to be removed at lunch on the 13th.

Businesses along 1st Avenue will remain OPEN during this process

Carrington Drive

The paving company working on Knightdale road improvements notified Public Works today that they see a window in the weather next week to finish Carrington Drive and take care of some punch list items.  They intend to setup notification signs tomorrow in Carrington Woods, and plan to stage equipment over the weekend.  Monday looks rainy, but the rest of the week looks decent with temperateres in the 60’s.  for any questions, please reach out to Jonas Silver, Public Information Officer at jonas.silver@knightdalenc.gov or 919-217-2205.
