Mission Statement

The mission of the Knightdale Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Knightdale and Eastern Wake County by providing an experienced staff to plan, implement and manage a wide variety of both passive and active leisure opportunities.

The department will strive to provide a system of parks, greenways, recreation facilities and open space areas which will assure quality recreation opportunities for present and future citizens of Knightdale and Eastern Wake County.

Recreation Programs

All Recreation Programs are held at the Knightdale Recreation Center located at 101 Lawson Ridge Road (attached to Forestville Road Elementary School) Call (919) 217-2232 or (919) 217-2235 for more information

Be Active Walking Club

  • Monday & Wednesday from 7:15am-7:45am
  • Come rain or shine, we will be walking inside
  • Come 5 minutes early for stretching and sign-in
  • Free Program

Pottery Class

Beginner and Advanced potters benefit from individualized attention to learn and perfect pottery skills including wheel throwing, hand built forms, raku, hand built attachments and decorating techniques — no experience necessary

  • New session will begin in the Fall
  • Instructor Billy Wilder
  • Pottery Class:
    • $76 includes 25 lbs. of clay
  • Open Studio:
    • Available to enrolled Pottery Class students
    • Every Tuesday during session
    • $24 for 8 weeks
  • Pottery Tool Set for beginners $11

Yoga

  • Ages 18 and up
  • Tuesday Nights from 7:00pm-8:00pm
  • $7.00 per class or you can buy a yoga card-5 classes for $25
  • No registration necessary — pay on site
  • Wear comfortable clothes and bring a yoga mat with you

Cheerleading New Session information

  • Registration: Friday, May 30, 2008
  • Students can register during the first 3 class sessions
  • 6:00pm-6:45pm — Ages 4-7 years old
  • 6:45pm-7:30pm — Ages 8-18 years old
  • 7:30pm-8:15pm - All-Stars
  • Class Dates: Every Friday from June 6, 2008-September 5, 2008
  • Class Times will be assigned at registration
  • Fee: $7.00 per class

Self-Defense New Session information

  • Registration: Saturday, May 31, 2008
  • Students can register during the first 3 class sessions
  • 9:30am-10:15am — New Students
  • 10:15am-11:00am — Returning Students
  • Class dates: Every Saturday from June 7, 2008 - September 6, 2008
  • Ages 4-18 years old
  • Fee: $7.00 per class

Hip Hop New Session information

  • Registration: Thursday, May 29, 2008
  • Students can register during the first 3 class sessions
  • 6:00pm-7:30pm — Ages 4-18 years old
  • Class dates: Thursdays, June 5, 2008-September 4, 2008
  • Fee: $7.00 per class
