EAST WAKE TELEVISION AND WAKE SCHOOLS
PARTNER TO PRODUCE INNOVATIVE TELEVISION PROGRAMMING
KNIGHTDALE, NC – January 5, 2007 — East Wake Television Channel
22 (EWTV) and the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) are
working together to create programming designed to assist high
school students prepare for End of Course testing later this month.
The program “Make the Grade” features Caroline Richardson solving
algebra and geometry problems called in or emailed by students.
Viewers watch the problem being worked out on an electronic screen
with additional strategies offered by Richardson as she reaches the
solutions.
Make the Grade premiered Thursday January 4th, and new episodes are
planned for the 5th, 10th, 12th and 16th. Each episode airs
live at 4 pm and is replayed at 7 pm. The program is produced
by Knightdale TV, led by Town Manager Gary McConkey. East Wake
Television is a Public, Education and Government (PEG) channel
available on Time Warner Cable Ch. 22 in the eastern part of Wake
County, including Knightdale, Wendell and Zebulon. The program
is also available online @
www.ci.knightdale.nc.us. “We’re really breaking new ground
here in an effort to prepare students for these critical tests”
claimed WCPSS Senior Administrator Athena Kellogg. “We all
hope it is just the beginning of something that can really expand
tutoring efforts for our students.”
