Public Works

The Department's litter pickup effort, underway since April, is up to more than 500 bags collected.  Please do your part, and don't throw trash or cigarette butts onto the roadways.

All Knightdale single family homes will receive a 48 gallon roll out cart for recycling the first week in August.  The new roll out will replace the blue bins, which will be picked up by Waste Industries during the same week.  The new roll outs are easier to get to the curb, have a lid to keep the recyclables dry, and hold more material.  UPDATE 7-3 -  The new roll outs have been ordered and are expected to be delivered during the last week in July.  Your current bin will be picked up on the regular collection day and replaced with the new roll out.  Check out the PSA produced by EWTV interns on Ch. 22.

What Can I Recycle? You can recycle the following materials by putting them in your Waste Industries bin (if you are a Town of Knightdale sanitation customer) or by taking them to the convenience center on Knightdale-Eagle Rock Road:

Aluminum and Steel Cans; Cardboard; Cereal/Snack Boxes; Glass Bottles and Jars; Paper (magazines, newsprint, office paper, junk mail); and Plastic Bottles.  The convenience center also takes Scrap Metal.

Please remember that yard waste stickers must be purchased at Town Hall to receive limb/brush pickup.  Call 217-2212 for additional information.

Alcoholic Beverage Control permit holders are required to recycle all beverage containers, effective January 1, 2008.  Also, any business in Town has the opportunity to participate in the solid waste management contract for dumpster pickup.  The rates are $2.50 per cubic yard per month for once a week pickup.  Contact Seth Lawless @ 217-2202 for more info.

Reminder:  Waste Industries, the Town's residential garbage and recycling contractor, asks that citizens try to get their carts and bins out the night before scheduled collection.  This cuts down on missed service and the "hassle" residents face to have the containers picked up late.

Finance:
