Town of Knightdale Website Procedure — Abridged

Created November, 2006

Purpose

The Town of Knightdale publishes its web site as an enhancement to the services that it provides and as an information source for the general public. The web site is a supplement to the information and the services available from the Town offices.

Furthermore, the Town of Knightdale seeks to expand involvement and raise awareness on public matters using a number of outlets, including its web site.

The Town of Knightdale reserves the right to determine what information and services shall be made available on the Town web site.

Accuracy

The Town strives to present current and accurate information on the web site, but does not guarantee the accuracy or currency of information posted.

In the event of a significant difference between the information on the web site and official information available at the Town offices, the official information shall prevail.

Email Comments on Public Hearings

Comments on public hearing items that are submitted by email will NOT automatically become part of the official record of such proceedings, unless required by law. Persons wishing to comment on public hearing items should attend the public hearing and express themselves in person at the hearing, or if the notice of a particular hearing allows written comments, then comments may be submitted in that manner. The Town will attempt to pass all email correspondence to the intended recipients.

Notices of Public Hearings

When the Town places notices for upcoming public meetings or hearings on the web site, it does so only to facilitate public access to such information, as a supplement to the legally required methods of posting notices.

Email to Town Officials and Employees

Persons submitting email comments or questions to the Town of Knightdale officials or employees should be aware that the Town cannot guarantee, nor does it represent that such communications will remain private or confidential. Similar to mailed or delivered comments, comments received via email may become subject to public disclosure under the North Carolina Public Records Act and/or part of the discovery procedure in a civil lawsuit.

Linking Policy

The web site links only to the web sites of other governmental and non-profit entities, organizations that have a contractual relationship with the Town; and private sector corporations that do business within the corporate limits.

The Town Manager will grant linking requests based on the above criteria.

Offsite Links

The Town is not responsible for the content, views, opinions or factual representations of any web pages that are not the property of the Town of Knightdale.
